Lila Winters, a mother of two, learns that she has the ability to control natural elements—abilities that exceed that of a normal human. Others like her, Guardians, are being hunted and manipulated by those who seek to control their powers.
After discovering her abilities, Lila is approached by a would be ally and fellow Guardian, Alex Woods, who tries to recruit her into a secret government department called Mission Control, which seeks to promote the benevolent use of Guardian abilities and rescue the missing Guardians. Lila, reluctant to join, instead agrees to help another.
Along their quest to find the missing Guardians, Lila and Alex discover ancient creatures thought to be legendary. They help Lila and Alex to grow and learn and become strong allies in the fight against those who seek to control them.
